If You Had to Sum Up Your Life Philosophy in One Sentence

Keep moving forwards, accept the occasional sidestep, and try to be useful along the way.

That’s the sentence. Here’s what sits underneath it.

Help others. It keeps me busy, and it usually turns out to be good for me too.

Show up, and let the dogs set the pace. Except Moog. Moog’s philosophy is that if it moves, chase it, which makes following him less of a walk and more of a pursuit.

Get stuff out of your head. Whether it’s a list, a journal or a blog, it weighs less on paper than it does between my ears.

Surround yourself with your dream team: people you trust, whose views you value, who make you laugh and who you respect.

And if there’s a doubt, there is no doubt. If I’m unsure about something, I trust my gut. It’s probably telling me it isn’t right for me. My gut knew about the gardener before I did.
