What a week it’s been. We kicked off the Bank Holiday weekend in classic British fashion: enduring downpours of biblical proportions at the Shrivenham Fete, where a saturated bouncy castle assault course ultimately proved too much for both Freddie and GMa.

From there, we ventured out to the Oak Fair at Stock Gaylard in search of a bespoke dining table—learning the fine art of talking to ‘Makers’ and witnessing a rogue hawk go entirely off-script during a bird of prey display—before returning home to tackle a round of high-stakes DIY picture hanging and external wall fixings.

The second half of the week shifted gears into local sports and domestic survival. We hosted a junior table tennis masterclass with guest coach Jack Kapinski, where our Pewsey squad shone (despite some 10 AM bed-head and Crocs), before I suffered my own off-day on the tables dodging stray plastic projectiles from energetic kids.

Finally, I battled outdoor storms, 14-character passwords, full vacuum canisters, and the complex sorting rules at the local recycling centre, before capping it all off at the Pewsey Carnival village quiz.
