I was scheduled to wear quite the assortment of hats today.
The morning began with my ‘Village Hall Chairman’ hat firmly in place. The glamorous task at hand? Opening up the hall for the annual fire extinguisher inspection. I also took the opportunity to catch up with our cleaner, who continues to work minor miracles in keeping the place looking as fantastic as it does.
Next up was a quick costume change into my ‘Table Tennis Coach’ hat for the school summer camp. As it turned out, only one player was able to make it today. Fortunately, it was our rising star. Rather than herding a large group, we seized the opportunity and got stuck into two solid hours of highly focused, intensive training.
With the table tennis gear packed away, I swapped to my ‘Mindset Coach’ hat for a 1-2-1 session. By this point, the sun was absolutely blazing. Even though we were sitting sensibly under a canopy, it was stiflingly hot and humid—testing the mindset of both coach and client just to stay comfortable.
With all the physical, outward-facing hat-wearing finally complete for the day, I retreated home. I tackled the rest of my admin from the safety of the shade, armed with an exceptionally cold drink. It seems ‘Heatwave 4.0’ is officially upon us, which means for the rest of the week, the only hat I’ll be needing is a very cool one.
