It felt immensely satisfying to reach another proper renovation milestone today: the painting is entirely finished. There are no more bare walls, exposed plaster, or primed woodwork in sight. Everything looks pristine, crisp, and blindingly white. Once the carpets and hard flooring go down in a couple of weeks, we’ll officially be ready for the grand opening ceremony.
On reflection, the journey has been great fun—mostly. Watching an ageing bungalow slowly transform into a light-filled, modern living space has been a fascinating process, and we’ve genuinely enjoyed the experience. Well, apart from the stint living in a caravan through summer heatwaves; that portion of the adventure was severe testing.
Right now, every day feels like we’re staying in a high-end holiday home. The finished space has far exceeded anything we originally envisioned.
To top off a good day, we’re heading out tonight with our ‘Curry Club’ friends to celebrate Sandrine’s birthday. It’s been far too long since our last visit to The Goa, and I’m thoroughly looking forward to what is easily the best Indian in the Pewsey Vale.
