As much as I would have liked to see England take on Mexico in the World Cup, staying up until 1 AM just wasn’t on the cards. I struggle to keep my eyes open past 9 PM most nights as it is! Still, it seems my presence wasn’t strictly required; England managed a 3-2 victory without my moral support, booking their spot in the next round.

My status as a card-carrying member of the 5 AM Club—followed by the 6:30 AM gym session—was happily restored this morning. I kicked off the week feeling properly motivated, pumped up, and wrapped in the minor glory of an early morning achiever. I am going to need that flying start, given the shape of the week ahead.

‘Heatwave 3.0’ supposedly began brewing today, dragging afternoon temperatures into the high twenties. Though one does wonder if it is an actual heatwave, or simply the media manufacturing a front-page crisis out of what is basically a good old-fashioned English summer.

Instead of clear progress, today turned into a thoroughly ‘bitty’ affair. A fragment of admin here, a touch of physical labour there, a slice of business planning, and a fair amount of head-scratching—chiefly wondering how on earth we managed to completely overlook the Fiat’s MOT was due. Tomorrow will have to be a day of deliberate action.

An evening of table tennis ruthlessly drained whatever energy reserves I had left. By 10 PM, right on cue, I was nodding off once again.
