I’ve just realised this is my first post of 2026 – Happy New Year. I’m never too sure how many days after the 1st you can wish a happy New Year. Is there an official cut-off date like the 12 days of Christmas tradition?

Anyway, the New Year celebrations seem a long time ago now and a lot has happended in that time.

Like most years I’m finalising my new year goals with a view to starting work on them in February. I recently read that February was the most under-rated month as we tend to focus on January to start our resolutions and we’re excited to start the new year off as we mean to go on. However, “Quitter’s Day” (or “Quitter Friday”) and typically falls on the second Friday of the month, is what often stops us in our tracks.

Focusing on new goals in February gives me another month of fine-tuning, buys me time over the Christmas and New Year period, and gives February a purpose; as well as being my birthday month.

Over the last few years I’ve realised that the best goals to set are those made with gut instinct. I’m using this technique increasingly more to help me set goals and make decisions.
