I’m currently rereading essays from verses of The Tao. Today’s essay (No 8) was about living in the flow and centered around water which provides us, and the world, with nourishment and life. This got me thinking about how I’d heard this message before in other contexts, one in particular that sticks in my mind from Bruce Lee – a modern day Lao Te Ching maybe?

Be like water, just flow…

To be more like water means to flow to lower places, leave nothing untouched, be there to provide life, enjoyment, cleansing and a life source to the world.

For me being more like water means to flow in whatever I do whether that’s playing sport, walking, writing or just being in the moment. Coincidentally, this blog title is moving forwards and occasionally sideways, isn’t that what water does…just flows.

The part of the essay that I took as a lesson, and most impactful, was for me to give others the same life-nourishing ways as water gives to me.
