I enjoyed a recent business trip to Edinburgh, although the cold I came back with refuses to budge which isn’t enjoyable. I find that one of the downsides of predominantly working from home is a lower immune system to bugs.

As I get older I’ve noticed that common colds effect me differently; they have less of an impact but they drag on longer. Still, this isn’t an interesting topic to talk about, but possibly a reason for a delay in my blogging.

We’re experiencing some nice autumn weather here in the South UK. Warm bright days and nice evenings great for a walking and relaxing at the end of the working day.

Since moving to Pewsey I’ve taken up playing Table Tennis, initially as a hobby but like many of my past hobbies they become all encompassing activities. I played TT competitively as a teenager in Reading which I later discovered was a hub for many people who went on to become top TT players like Matthew Syed. I didn’t play against Matthew – not knowingly – but I remember a lot of good players at the clubs I went to.

My local club asked me to captain their new second team for this season’s league – which I’m pleased about – and tonight we have our first match.

I’m feeling prepared, although would prefer to have more energy and less of a cold. I’m also finding that I’m refreshing my sports psychology knowledge. The same skills apply to TT, I just need to put them into practice.
